The University of Pannonia, known as “Pannon Egyetem” in Hungarian, is a public research university located in Veszprém, Hungary. The University of Pannonia has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1949. It was initially known as Veszprém University, with a strong focus on engineering and chemical sciences.

The university is situated in the picturesque city of Veszprém, which is approximately 110 kilometers (68 miles) southwest of Budapest. Veszprém is known for its historical and cultural significance and is often referred to as the “City of Queens.”

Doctoral schools operate with various applied programs, and students can apply directly through the self-financed application process or by becoming a candidate for the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship.

Step by Step Application Process:

  1. Choose your academic program.
  2. Submit the application form along with the necessary documents to the relevant faculty for your selected program.
  3. Transfer the non-refundable admission application fee of 100 euros to the admissions office.
  4. Participate in the organized entrance interview conducted by the faculty.
  5. Successful applicants must transfer the tuition fee for two terms in advance to secure their place of study.
  6. Ensure that you are present at the university for registration coordination during the registration week (the first week of the term).

Registration Deadline for the University of Pannonia:

In general, there are two application rounds for self-funded degree programs:

  1. February 15th to April 15th for the autumn term beginning in the first week of September.
  2. August 15th to November 1st for the spring term beginning in the first week of January.

The application process for each of the BA/BSc and MA/MSc level programs is managed separately by the faculties.

The University of Pannonia, Hungary, has four faculties that provide high-quality education.

This university offers eight undergraduate programs, thirteen master’s programs, and five doctoral programs in foreign languages.

Each academic year consists of two terms, with each term spanning 14 weeks followed by a 6-week examination period.

The autumn semester begins in early September.

The University of Pannonia does not organize airport pick-up services for students.

Hungary has an international airport, Liszt Ferenc International Airport in Budapest, which is a good transportation hub.

Then students have three public transportation options to choose from Budapest to the University of Pannonia campuses.

University of Pannonia Registration Week:

The registration week usually takes place in early September when every accepted student must be present at the University of Pannonia to register for the academic year or next semester.

Only after registration, students can go to the immigration office to obtain a Schengen student residence permit.

Students can obtain further information about the registration process from the university’s International Office.

Obtaining a Residence Permit:

After registration as a student of the University of Pannonia, you should locate the immigration office.

We recommend students to visit the immigration office along with their student mentor.

Students entering Hungary with an initial entry visa must apply for their residence permit within 30 days of entry.

University of Pannonia Scholarships:

The Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program was launched by the Hungarian government in 2013.

The main mission of the program is to increase the number of international students in Hungary and encourage Hungarian higher education institutions to attract top foreign students.

Currently, more than 50 sending partners are involved in this program.

This program is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements between the Hungarian government and partner countries.

If an applicant is nominated by the responsible authorities of the sending partner, their applications are considered eligible.

This program is administered by the Tempus Public Foundation.

Types of Available Scholarships:

Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships are available for bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, doctorate, and non-degree programs (preparatory and specialty courses).

For bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate and doctoral studies, both full-time and part-time study programs are available.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Monthly stipend:
    • For bachelor’s and master’s programs: 40,460 HUF per month (approximately 130 EUR) for living expenses – for 12 months per year until the completion of studies.
    • For doctoral programs: 140,000 HUF per month (approximately 435 EUR) currently – for 12 months per year until the completion of studies.
  • Three-month dormitory allowance or financial support of 30,000 HUF per month for accommodation expenses.
  • Additional medical insurance coverage by GENERALI for Stipendium Hungaricum students.
