Canada Star Secondary School, Canada is an independent day school situated in Richmond, within the Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia. Established in 2013, it caters to both male and female students and follows the British Columbia Grade 8-12 curriculum.

The school offers Academic English preparation, a Top University Bridge Program, and comprehensive services to meet the needs of international students. The semester system enables students to take four courses during each term, with two terms occurring per year.

Additionally, students have the option to enroll in up to two additional courses during the Summer. Our Fall Term spans from September to January, while our Spring Term takes place from February to June. Secondary School Academic Program:

Canada Star Secondary School provides British Columbia Ministry of Education accredited classes on weekdays from 9:00 am to 3:20 pm during the school year. Following 3:20 pm, they offer additional academic and tutorial classes as an option to enhance students’ abilities and ensure their academic success.

Dual Credit Program:

Canada Star Secondary School and Kwantlen Polytechnic University have joined forces to establish a Dual Credit program. Dual credit implies that the credits earned at Kwantlen Polytechnic University can be applied toward both high school graduation requirements and future post-secondary education. This opportunity enables students to enroll in one or more university-level courses at a KPU Campus (Richmond or Surrey) during their grade 12 year in high school.

Advanced Placement Program:

The Advanced Placement Program (AP), administered by the College Board, allows motivated and academically ready high school students to engage in college-level coursework. By participating in AP, students have the chance to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both. AP Exams are conducted annually in May, and achieving a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam usually grants students college credit and/or admission to higher-level courses in college.

Top University Bridge Program:

Canada Star Secondary School offers a distinctive Top University Bridge Program, designed to go beyond academics and prioritize the holistic development of students. This specialized program, available for students in grades 9 to 12, concentrates on both academic skills and the cultivation of essential life skills. With a personalized and goal-oriented approach, the program emphasizes five key educational pillars.

Summer and Winter Camps: 

Canada Star Secondary School provides voluntary short-term programs tailored for international students seeking a firsthand experience of North American education. These programs offer a combination of academic and cultural elements, ensuring a meaningful and thrilling experience for participants.

Admission Requirements 

  1. Academic Requirements: Applicants must submit their official transcripts or academic records. If these documents are not in English, they must be translated and officially certified.
  2. Supporting Documentation: A copy of the applicant’s passport, Immunization records, and a passport-size photo must be submitted in addition to the application form.
  3. Interview: Candidates are required to participate in an interview, which should be arranged with the Admissions Office while applying.
  4. Assessment: Every international student must undergo both an in-person or online oral examination and an online English Assessment, which evaluates their skills in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. This process helps determine the appropriate placement for each student based on their proficiency level.

Tuition, Fees, and Refund Policy

Tuition and Fees: 

  1. Application Fee (non-refundable): $200 CAD
  2. Tuition Fee: $10,000 CAD per semester
  3. School Uniform Fee:
    • Male Students: $382 CAD
    • Female Students: $425 CAD
    • PE Uniform (grade 8- 10): $47 CAD
  4. Student Service Fee: $200 CAD per semester
  5. Curricular Activities & Clubs: $350 CAD per semester
  6. Books & Materials Fee: $200 CAD
  7. Medical Insurance Fee (International students only): $500 CAD per semester
  8. Graduation Fee (Grade 12 only): $200 CAD
  9. Homestay Application Fee: $200 CAD
  10. Homestay Fees: $1300 CAD – $2000 CAD per month
  11. Custodianship Declaration/Application: $200 CAD
  12. Custodianship Fee: $500 CAD per semester

Refund Policy: 

The School will consider requests for fee refunds, excluding Non-Refundable Fees and a $500 administration fee, in cases where the Student’s initial study permit and/or entry visa, or a returning student’s study permit and/or entry visa, is not approved by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The refund is subject to the condition that the refusal is not due to any delay or failure on the Student’s part to apply in sufficient time before the start of their Educational Program. Additionally, the Student must provide satisfactory supporting documentation along with a copy of the original IRCC letter of denial, the study permit and/or entry visa application (or extension application), and the Letter of Acceptance or Letter of Re-Admission issued by the school.

Scholarships At Canada Star Secondary School

  1. Canada Star Golden Achievement Award: Every year, one exceptionally high-achieving new student will be granted the Award, entitling them to an 85% tuition waiver for each year they are enrolled in full-time study.
  2. Canada Star Honour Award: These awards are given each year to students who have achieved an average score of 86% or higher during one academic year while taking a full course load.
  3. Canada Star Outstanding Performance Scholarship: This single $5,000 scholarship is available to any student who can showcase exceptional achievements in the fields of visual arts and design, sports, music, or academics.
  4. Canada Star Principal’s Scholarship: Any student who is enrolled in a full course load and maintains an annual average score of 92% or higher will qualify to receive this $1,000 award.
